When two couples got together on a summer night, THEY HAD NO IDEA THAT IN NINE MONTHS THEY WOULD HAVE AN INNOVATIVE BUSINESS THAT ATTRACTED adults OF ALL AGES TO “Let It Go…”
Stuart and Kelly Josberger, along with their friends Mark and Trish Oliphant had a casual backyard barbecue one night after a sail on the Barnegat Bay. While the girls were preparing dinner, the boys were out back building a fire in the chiminea. Chopping wood for the fire, led to the creation of an impromptu game of throwing the axe to a makeshift bullseye on some log rounds from a tree that came down during Superstorm Sandy. The game evolved to a more sophisticated target of 2 x 6′ timbers on an tripod stand in the backyard. Soon, the Josbergers and the Oliphants realized this game had potential and decided to take it indoors, recreating the fun and bonding over food, drinks, and hatchet throwing competition.
And then the fun begins…
In their safe, controlled throwing pit, customers take turns hurling their hatchet to the target, honing in on their form and technique. After several trials, most find this activity to be addicting. When not throwing, friends gather in the common area at large farm tables and comfy couches. While you are welcome to order food in, snacks, beverages and ice are available for purchase.
Owners Mark and Trish Oliphant and Stuart and Kelly Josberger wanted their venue to provide more than just hatchet throwing. In the “Wood Shed” party room, a live edge counter is utilized for buffets and an extra long farm table provides seating for a large group. Whether it’s a business meeting/corporate outing or a bachelor, bachelorette, birthday, or divorce/break up party, this room provides a unique setting for a private celebration. Trish and Kelly are ready to assist to make your event a success with catering packages to meet your needs and compliment your party theme.
